Best tutors

The best tutors are often those who want to develop their skills and seek out new challenges. One way to attract the best tutors for your agency is to offer development opportunities in the form of training. You can arrange this in- house or use external trainers to create a course specific to your tutors’ needs. You may want to arrange training as part of a team building day, for example. The most ambitious tutors will also be interested in becoming more involved with the agency, so consider whether there’s room to create senior positions within your business that would be attractive to tutors who may be interested in promotion.

Students with special needs require tutors who understand their learning styles. All of the this site's tutors have at least a Bachelor's Degree in special education, and the tutors find that the students do well with online tutoring because they're in a comfortable and familiar setting (ie, home). Rates start at $25/hour.

It is very much caveat emptor. There is, as yet, no independent accreditation or rating system for tutors. So you need to interview, take up references and, above all, ensure that your child feels right with the person once lessons start.

Varsity Tutors helps you or your student connect with the right tutor for your needs, right when you need them most. Our innovative live learning platform, personalised learning plans, and rigorous tutor screening process break down the barriers of traditional tutoring, so it’s easier for you to learn and grow. I've witnessed this myself when students and unqualified 'teachers' have wanted to register at Ash Tutors, claiming they tutor already with companies elsewhere. This might be fine with you, and precisely what you're looking for. In these cases, prices will usually reflect the extra effort the parent has to put in to ensure the teachers are qualified, DBS checked and actually good at what they do.

Preply is a boon to students who want to learn or practice another language with a native speaker; it hosts tutors from all over the world who are fluent in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, Hebrew, Urdu — you name it. Tutors are contractors who set their own rates, so the prices vary. VISIT NOW

Each tutor has been pre-screened; DBS checked, trained and prepped to give you the best personalised learning experience. Based on your needs and personality, we preselect the right tutor to help you reach your goals. We take pride in getting the match right!

They will have waiting lists so think ahead and get signed up early. In Birmingham, for example, where there is a relatively small number of schools which use the 11-plus, it's best to ask friends whose children are already pupils at these schools. Otherwise, there are numerous tutor agencies you can research online. They range from listings sites to high quality outfits who select, train and monitor graduates and/or experienced teachers. It is very much caveat emptor. There is, as yet, no independent accreditation or rating system for tutors. So you need to interview, take up references and, above all, ensure that your child feels right with the person once lessons start. There is much you can do at home - so long as you don't jeopardise your relationship with your child by turning yourself into a tyrant and her into a cringing wreck. You can use workbooks in maths, English and reasoning.

In a typical day’s work, I would have up to 4 lessons in a day-2 hours a lesson with up to 4 students each lesson. I am current teaching GCSEs so a lot of exam preparation is required. I have to push them to work harder. At this tuition centre, they supply the students with exercise books which the students do in their time at tuition and for homework. It helps them a lot to keep them working and strengthening their knowledge. In my opinion the management I thought was really well done. All my superiors and co-workers are hard working. Hardest part of the job was trying to teach unwilling students. They're the ones who pretend to listen and do little to no work wasting both our time. If this does happen I try to use different angles to approach their learning for example, instead of keeping it all about this subject, I'll talk to them about their day or anything that may interest.
